How to use Review Points

Overview #

Welcome to the Papercare help section. This guide explains how to use the Review Points feature. Review Points lets you teach AI Review your firm’s own review standards in plain English, so that each check you add runs automatically on every AI Review, either firm-wide or for a specific client.

Step 1: Open Review Points #

From the left navigation panel in the Firm Dashboard or Client Dashboard, click on “Review Points”.
This will open your firm’s Review Points register, where every point your team has added is listed.

Step 2: Add a New Review Point #

Click the Add a Review Point button.
The Add Review Point panel will open.

Step 3: Name and File the Review Point #

Select the Chart of Accounts type the point applies to (for example, Company).
Enter a Name for the review point that your team will recognise.
Assign the point to a Group to keep your register organised.
You can select an existing group or create a new one.

Step 4: Tell the AI Where to Look #

Under “Where should the AI look?”, select the area you want the point to check.
You can drill down as far as you need, through:
The financial statement
The area
The account
The specific figure that matters (opening balance, movement, journals, or closing balance)
Stop early to check a broad area, or continue to target one exact figure.
You can also point the review at a specific module, such as the bank summary, payroll, or VAT returns.
The scope is written out automatically beneath your selections.

Step 5: Write the Check in Plain English #

Under “What should it check?”, describe the check the way you would brief a junior.
Include any conditions directly in the sentence, such as what to do if a balance behaves a certain way.
If you want small differences ignored, enable the threshold option and enter the amount below which items should be disregarded.

Step 6: Set What the AI Should Do #

Under “What should it do?”, choose one of the following:
Raise a review point – flag the finding for your team to act on.
Apply a treatment – teach the AI a standing rule so it stops flagging the item.
Select what the AI is allowed to draft, such as a Query, a Suggested Journal, or Notes.
Under “Where does it apply?”, choose whether the point runs for all clients (Standard) or only for selected clients (Chosen Clients).

Step 7: Review the Read-Back and Save #

Before saving, the AI repeats your review point back in its own words so you can confirm it has understood.
If the summary is correct, click Save. If it needs changing, click Edit and adjust it.
Once saved, the review point runs automatically on every AI Review within its scope.

Step 8: Manage Your Review Points #

Each review point has its own switch, so you can turn it on or off at any time.
You can also edit the brief, move a point to a different group, or delete a point from the register.
