How to use AI Review

Overview #

Welcome to the Papercare help section. This guide explains how to use the AI Review feature. AI Review reads your client’s year-end file, builds and casts the working paper schedules, runs a full set of checks across the accounts and supporting documents, and drafts the review points and client queries for you, all before the file reaches a reviewer.

Step 1: Open AI Review #

From the left navigation panel in the Firm Dashboard or Client Dashboard, click on “AI Review”.
This will open the AI Review page.

Step 2: Add the Client Files #

Upload your client’s year-end records exactly as they were received.
You can add multiple files of different types, such as:
Trial balance (XLSX)
Bank statements (PDF)
Aged debtors (CSV)
Other supporting documents
There is no need to tidy, re-key, or reformat the files before uploading them.

Step 3: Let AI Review Build the Schedules #

AI Review reads the uploaded files and casts the working paper schedules automatically.
Each schedule totals itself and agrees itself against the related control account.
Wait for the schedules and supporting documents to finish processing.

Step 4: Run AI Review #

Once the schedules are built and the supporting documents have been read, click the Run AI Review button.
AI Review will work through the whole file, including areas such as:
Control accounts
VAT
Payroll
Director’s loan account
Any review points your firm has added
This process usually takes a few minutes. Nothing is posted, filed, or sent during the review.

Step 5: Review the Findings #

When the review is complete, AI Review displays its findings.
Each finding is written in a clear and consistent format:
Issue – states the fact with the relevant figures.
Detail – explains the driver behind the issue.
Action – sets out the recommended next step.
Where relevant, a suggested journal is provided. Suggested journals are never posted automatically.

Step 6: Raise a Query, Add a Note, or Sign Off #

For each finding, choose how you want to act on it:
Click Raise Query to send a drafted, client-ready query.
Click Add Note to record a note for the file.
Click Sign Off to approve the point with your initials.
You can edit any drafted query or note before saving or sending it. Approval always remains with you.

Step 7: Generate the Client Email #

Once you have reviewed the open queries, click Generate Client Email.
All open queries on the file are combined into a single client email.
The email is handed to My Email Composer for your review before it is sent.
