Inside AI Review · Review Points

Teach it what your firm reviews.

The model behind AI Review is already trained to think like an accountant: accruals, bank, tax, wages and the rest. Review Points is where you teach it your firm's own standards. No coding knowledge required, just plain English. Brief it once, like a junior, and it never forgets: every point runs automatically on every review, firm-wide or for one client. The real screens, replayed below, live.

Step one · Your register

Your firm's own register.

The reviews an accountant would run as standard are already trained in; they work silently behind the screen. This screen is yours: every point your team adds, grouped your way, searchable, each with its own switch, firm-wide or pinned to one client. It starts nearly empty. Watch how quickly it becomes your firm's review culture: go on, add one.

Step two · Name it, file it

Three plain steps: where, what, what to do.

Adding a point starts gently: pick the chart of accounts it belongs to, give it a name your team will recognise, and file it under a group so the library stays tidy. Every group your firm uses is a chip away, and a new group is one click.

no code anywhere. notice that. ✓

Step three · Point it

Tell it exactly where to look.

Drill down as far as you need, one step at a time: statement, area, account, even what about it matters, opening balance, movement, journals or closing. Stop early for a broad area, or go all the way to one exact figure. Or point it at the modules instead: bank summary, payroll, VAT returns. The scope writes itself underneath as you go.

A Place to look

A reconciliation usually ticks two or three accounts and their closing balance. A scan, like old debtors, is usually a whole area or an Other module.

Step four · The brief

Say what to check. In plain English.

Write it like you would brief a junior; any “if” goes right in the sentence. This is the firm's actual bank reconciliation brief, four sentences and a numbered list, no code anywhere. And if pennies would create noise, tell it to ignore anything under a pound figure you choose.

Ignore anything under £ so small items do not create noise
Step five · The read-back

It reads your point back before it saves.

Choose what happens when the check fires: raise a review point for the team, or teach the AI a standing treatment. Tick what it may draft: query, suggested journal, notes. Choose where it applies: every client, or only the ones you pick. Then the clever bit: before saving, the AI repeats your point back in its own words, so you know it understood.

Step six · Every review, every time

Then it runs. On every file. Forever.

That's the whole trick: the accountant's checks we maintain, the points your firm adds and the points pinned to this client all run behind the scenes on every AI Review, before the file reaches a reviewer. The AI works your conditions out in code from the figures, not by guessing, and fires only when a check genuinely trips. Off-season? Flick the point off and it sleeps.

Standard plus yours

Trained as an accountant. Tuned by you.

Behind the screen, the model is already trained on the reviews an accountant would run: accruals, bank, tax, wages and the rest. Your firm layers its own points over that, firm-wide or pinned to a single client, and everything runs together on every AI Review.

Plain English in

No code. No consultants.

Point it at the numbers, write the check like a brief to a junior. The AI works the figures out in code, not by guessing, and fires only when your condition genuinely trips.

Always your call

On, off, edit, delete.

Every point has a switch. Rest one for a season, tighten the brief as standards change, regroup the library, or delete a point outright. The register stays yours to run.

Practice managerOur review checklist took years to build. Can it really learn it?
PapercareThat's exactly what Review Points is for. Each item on your checklist becomes a point: where to look, what to check in plain English, what to draft when it fires. Add them once and every AI Review runs them automatically, and the AI reads each one back in its own words before saving, so you know it understood.
PartnerWhat if a point keeps firing wrongly on one client?
PapercareThree choices, all yours: switch the point off for a while, make it client-specific so it only runs where it belongs, or teach a treatment so the AI applies a standing rule and stops flagging it. And because conditions are worked out in code from the figures, a point fires when your check genuinely trips, not when the model feels like it.

Bring the checklist your firm swears by.
